Playing the guitar

Noah really seems to like music...when he gets fussy, we can either sing to him or Jeff can play the guitar for him and it really seems to calm him down. He may even have an interest in playing one day...he was helping daddy play a tune the other night. I think it surprised him when every time he hit the strings it made a noise. I'm pretty sure he preferred to just sit and listen though...

Smile for the camera

I love taking pictures of my little man...I've constantly got the camera out snapping pics left and right. So you'd think by now, he'd be used to having it in his face all the time....but then again, judging by the number of fights I hear about between celebrities and the paparazzi, I guess you never really get used to having someone follow you around with a camera documenting your every move. But regardless, I'm determined to not miss a single Kodak moment. Anyways, it never fails that he'll start doing something super cute, smiling and laughing and I run to get my camera and as soon as I start to take the picture, he immediately stops smiling, gets this dazed look in his eyes like he's mesmerized by the camera, and that's it. No more smiles. Now I do have a rather large camera, which I got for my birthday. It's a Nikon D40, which is one of the cameras with the really big lens on it that does all kinds of cool stuff that I don't know how to use yet. So I'm not sure if he's genuinely confused as to what the big round thing I'm sticking in his face is and that's why he looks so dazed, or if he's just doing it to make me mad because he knows I want him to smile. I'm guessing it's probably the latter and I have a funny feeling that this is just the beginning of the many things he will do in his lifetime to try to annoy me, but hey, isn't that what little boys are for? We tried and tried to get him to smile for a picture yesterday morning, and as long as the camera was out of sight, he was all smiles. But as soon as it came out, this is the best we could get.

How time flies!

So as I was sitting here realizing that Noah will be 4 months old on Tuesday, I couldn't believe how fast the past few months have absolutely flown by. It seems like just yesterday we were finding out that we were expecting a sweet little boy, and now he's not only here, but he's gotten so big and is doing all sorts of new tricks. Some of his feats now include laughing out loud (which is my new favorite sound in the whole world), making a motorboat sound while blowing spit bubbles (which he finds quite funny and does all the time now making it difficult for us to keep him in a dry outfit for longer than about 2 minutes), rolling over from his tummy to his back, and standing all on his own (he of course needs help keeping his balance but has been able to completely support himself for at least a month now and even tries to take steps now). He's got several more new tricks and I have documented some of them with pictures.

He can fit almost his entire fist into his mouth, and for those of you that have seen his hands, you know that he has the hugest baby hands, probably close to the size of a 2-year-olds', so this is quite the amazing accomplishment!

Noah is also learning to call the Hogs...something he hasn't quite mastered, but then again, this may not have been the best year to get him so excited about the Razorbacks. But don't you worry, by next football season, he'll have this down.....maybe he'll even know the fight song by then.
And I know this may be hard for you to believe, but our sweet little boy has also mastered the art of a good old temper tantrum, complete with pouty little frowns and big ol' crocodile tears. It's probably the most pitiful thing I've ever seen, and it's usually hard for me not to laugh at him when he decides to throw one. I promise I'll try to be more sympathetic in the future....

This first picture was in the initial pouty stages of the tantrum and this next one was after he realized I was trying to take his picture right in the middle of his performance....not funny, mom!

And last but not least, he's finally big enough to get in his little jumper gym and actually touch the floor, and he loves it now. He tries to get all of the toys on it in his mouth and he gets really mad because he can't quite reach them. But he loves being able to stand and jump in it and it really entertained him for quite a while...

Trick or Treat!

Yesterday was Noah's first Halloween and he dressed up like a cow. And he was definitely the cutest cow I've ever seen. He really liked all the attention at first but by the end of the night I think he was done with it....he started screaming as if to tell me "Get me out of this crazy outfit!" But we took him all around the neighborhood and I think he did pretty good for his first time. Too bad he won't remember it...but that's why we took all these pictures. : )

Here is Noah with all his buddies from the neighborhood.
