6 month stats

Well, somehow another month has slipped by and Noah turned 6 months on Sunday. We had his checkup at the doctor on Monday and once again, he did really well. He weighed 16 lbs 7oz and is a little over 26 inches tall which puts him in the 50th percentile for babies his age. The doctor started talking about how we should start baby proofing the house, putting covers on the electrical sockets and latches on the cabinets because we'd be needing them soon. Of course in my head, I'm thinking "You must be crazy. My baby's just a baby...he's not going to be crawling anywhere and I don't need to do anything to my house." Then I looked down at my baby who was repeatedly hitting himself in the face with the tongue depressor the doctor had given him (is that safe?) and smiling up at me and realized that no matter what I say or do, he's growing up. And in just a matter of months, he will be crawling and walking and doing all sorts of other new things. It's so exciting, but as a mom, also a little bit sad. I kiss his chubby little cheeks an alarmingly excessive amount because I know there will come a day when he won't let me kiss his cheeks over and over again all day. ( I can just hear it now..."Mom, the guys are coming over to play some basketball, will you please not come out outside and try to kiss me in the middle of the game this time?") So in the meantime, I guess I'll go get those little covers for the light sockets out and accept the fact that he is going to grow up, but love every minute of it along the way. And because I didn't take any pictures at the doc's office, I'm posting a couple of the little guy at bathtime...his favorite time of day by far. I'm sure we're not too far off from the day when he moves to the big bathtub and he stays and plays in it all night until his fingers and toes are little raisins.
